FAKE ALERT:
The downside of innovation is always the same...Counterfeits. It has been brought to our attention on more than one
occasion, that other brands of cabs are being pawned off on the used market as MILLS Cabs. They are generally low-end
models, crudely modified to copy our designs and the unsuspecting buyers don't make the effort to verify they are genuine.
Our advice is DO NOT buy a used "MILLS Acoustics" cab unless you know who you are dealing with or take the time to contact
us to verify the cab's authenticity.
Another disturbing trend we are seeing, is the naive thinking that any cab can be modified to duplicate our design. "I'll just
tack that 'Afterburner thingy' to my M**shall and save lots of money..." This sounds simple but demonstrates a lack of
understanding of design and function. There is an established engineering principle that says "You don't get something for nothing".
Our Afterburner Baffle is a case in point. While it does solve several key issues to reproducing amp's tone capabilities, it
creates additional stresses that have to be considered and accounted for in the overall cab's design. We consider it to account for about 40%
of the total tonal improvement our design delivers. The remaining factors are not so easily seen. So yes, it will most likely improve
any particular cab in some areas but will be detrimental in others. There is no free ride. At first glance inside our Afterburner,
it looks deceptively simple. It is. The principles that determine HOW and WHY it works so well are very complex. Can you modify any
cab to sound better? Possibly, YES. Will it be as good as a MILLS? NO.
You can put a pig in a prom dress. But at the end of the evening...it's still a pig .
But we are somewhat flattered by all of this activity and it just goes to prove
what we have said from the beginning...MILLS Acoustics are THE STANDARD in Cab performance, design and construction and it was long overdue.
